Clients with Borderline Personality can be very challenging and clinicians often struggle to work with them. The presenter will provide an overview on the etiology of this disorder, specific symptoms, and details about effective evidence based practice. Clinical research on Borderline personality and hidden emotions will be highlighted. Clinicians will learn about underlying dynamics and comorbid diagnoses that play a key role in the clients� presenting problems, symptoms, and acting out behaviors. This course will also focus on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy which is empirically validated and very effective.

Course Objectives

Identify 3 effective interventions to use with clients who have borderline personality.

Recall the role of shame and anger as underlying emotional problems for this population.

Identify 4 ways to use dbt interventions effectively.
