Behavior Disorders in Children

Class Description

The presenter will discuss the three main behavior disorders in children: Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Conduct Disorder. The participants will gain insight into the root causes of the disorders and their relation to trauma. The course will end with proven behavioral techniques to curb disruptive behaviors and the best treatment options to refer families if interventions prove unsuccessful. Course Objectives: Differentiate between Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Conduct Disorder. Recognize the role trauma plays in a behavior disorder diagnosis. Demonstrate behavior modifications techniques geared to curb negative behaviors. Identify adequate resources for children and families with behavior disorders. Recognizing Behavior Disorders, Managing them, and Identifying Treatment Instructor: Matthew Karaszewski is a Graduate of Wayne State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Social Work and then again in 2017 with a Master of Social Work. Matthew studied Psychoanalytic and used that knowledge during his experience as a clinical therapist for inpatient mental health treatment specializing in co-occurring disorders and trauma treatment. Matthew is currently a Behavior Health Specialist with the Detroit Health Department, where he partners with shelters and various other community agencies and provides various training on topics of mental health and clinical skills.

Requirements for Registration

In order for CHI Professional Development to award you a Certificate of Completion, I am required to obtain certain information from you. The information requested is dependent on what course you are taking.

·         Sign into the workshop on time. We will start promptly and there will be a cutoff for entry.

·         Once the course is completed and your attendance is verified, you will receive a link to the course survey.

·         After completion of the survey, you will have the opportunity to print or download a PDF copy of your certificate.
