Course Description

Course Description This Seminar will focus on effective Cognitive Behavioral strategies to use when treating clients with Addictive behaviors. Topics will include irrational thoughts, automatic thoughts, core beliefs, negative thinking patterns, cognitive distortions, and catastrophic thoughts. The speaker will explore clients' personalities, their views and beliefs about their substance use, and how they respond to relapses. Specific ways to dispute or challenge irrational and self-critical thoughts will be focused on. Course Objectives Identify automatic thoughts, core beliefs, schemas, and cognitive distortions Recall 3 empirically validated CBT Interventions to address addictive behaviors Name 3 ways to dispute clients’ irrational and self-critical thoughts Recall 3 CBT skills needed to monitor their own thoughts when they develop self-critical and irrational thoughts Course Requirements Ensure that you sign in to the workshop on time. The presentation will start promptly and there will be a cutoff for entry. Remain logged in throughout the entire presentation to ensure that you receive credit for attendance. Your attendance will be verified using the login information provided by Zoom. After the lecture concludes, please complete the course survey promptly to get your CE Certificate. About the Instructor Dr. Feldman has 30 years of experience as a Clinical Director, Psychotherapist, and Supervisor. He is currently the Clinical Director at Journey to Wellness Substance Abuse Program in NJ. He has taught numerous clinical topics as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University MSW Program since 1995. As a professional speaker, he has presented more than 350 Clinical Seminars. He is also the author of "The Psychotherapy Manual," "Co-Occurring Disorders Manual, " and "Shame Affect-Theory, Research and Clinical Treatment" (on amazon.com). He completed his PhD at Rutgers University.
