Service Description

Although social work is distinguished as the only helping profession mandated to social justice, racism and oppression more generally, are prevalent in social work practice. This training will examine the ways in which social workers in various areas of practice are complicit in racist and oppressive outcomes that harm the communities we serve. Most importantly, this training will help you understand the difference between your individual and systemic behaviors, give you tools to identify racism and oppression, and ways to implement anti-racist and anti-oppressive praxis in your interactions, practice, and programs with historically oppressed populations. All are welcome to register for this training, which is designed for interaction that includes exercises for provoking thought, and opportunities for dialogue. You are encouraged to register for this training if you: - Identify as white - Hire and supervise staff - Oversee program management - Are interested in increasing self-awareness, and interrogating your privilege(s) - Have been asking yourself “what can I do to help?”
