Dr. Katherine Iovino

Instructor

Dr. Katherine Iovino is a small animal veterinarian with a special interest in animal behavior, positive reinforcement training, and the Human-Animal Bond. She has been in the veterinary field for over 16 years, with 9 of those years as a veterinarian. Dr. Iovino received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from Marist College and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. Although Dr. Iovino is tasked with seeing a multitude of medical issues in her patients, she has a special passion for behavioral disorders in animals and focuses on making vet visits as low-stress as possible, a topic she feels translates over to humans as well. This passion was sparked after completing a training internship at the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead, NY. Throughout veterinary school, Dr. Iovino then reinforced this priority by taking as many behavior-centered courses as possible and teaching Canine Good Citizen (CGC) dog training classes, as well as creating and teaching canine and feline clicker training labs at her vet school. After graduation, she continued her education in Animal Behavior by completing a mentorship with a board certified Veterinary Behaviorist. Dr. Iovino is an Elite Fear Free Certified® Professional which is the highest certification given to veterinarians dedicated to preventing and alleviating fear, anxiety, and stress for patients during vet visits. She takes pride in communicating as clearly as possible with all of her clients (human) and patients (pets) alike. Dr. Iovino is also an adjunct professor at Suffolk County Community College where she is helping to train and mold the minds of future Veterinary Technicians (nurses).
