Course Description
The Social Work Licensure Compact authorizes Social Worker’s licensed in one state to work in other participating states. This impacts telehealth, relocation, travel work, and employers serving clients in multiple states.
Although a majority of states have signed onto the Compact, it is not yet operational. However, many social workers are seeking insights into how the Compact would work to prepare for being eligible to practice in multiple states.
Designed for licensed Social Workers actively considering or navigating multistate practice, this course moves beyond basic awareness to provide applied guidance on how the Social Work Licensure Compact works in real clinical and administrative contexts, including state-specific practice requirements, background check processes, national examination standards, and how compact membership intersects with Continuing Education and license renewal obligations. Disciplinary jurisdiction and the implications of practicing in non-Compact states are also explored.
You’ll Learn:
1. Functional differences between a multistate license and individual state licensure
2. Analyze how home state and remote state designations affect practice authority
3. Realistic scenarios involving telehealth delivery, client jurisdiction, relocation, and military spouse mobility
