Ethics of Termination & Referrals

Class Description
With an increase in individuals seeking mental health treatment, it is important to review and understand the code of ethics when it comes to terminating services with clients as well as identifying when and how to provide referrals for services. Participants will be provided with case examples and resources to incorporate into their practice with current and future clients. The information shared will help practitioners set up themselves and clients up to address this issue earlier on in their work together. Learning Objectives 1) Understand one's role and responsibility in these processes 2) Develop an understanding of the various circumstances for termination of services 3) How to ethically prepare clients for termination; when possible 4) Develop a process and network for referring clients for additional or other treatment options Jennifer Rooney, M.S., has worked in higher education and not-for-profit organizations for over 14 years with experience in career development, disability services, academic advising and instruction. Presently, she completed her advanced certificate in mental health counseling and a master's degree in school counseling, Jennifer desires to work with individuals to empower them to mental well-being. Through empirical based approaches infused with artistic creativity, she desires to break down barriers to access for mental health care.

· Sign into the workshop on time. We will start promptly and there will be a cutoff for entry.
· You are required to stay logged in and actively participate throughout the entire presentation.
· Your attendance will be verified by the logon information provided by ZOOM.
· Once the course is completed and your attendance is verified, you will receive a link to the course survey.
· After completion of the survey, you will have the opportunity to print or download a PDF copy of your certificate.
