Class Description
The approach in the field of Addiction, specifically Substance Abuse and Alcoholism has remained stagnant over 50 years if not longer. This workshop will introduce you to a changing algorithm in the field of addiction including the idea that the “dynamics of addiction” covers all addictions not just substances and alcohol. By the end of the workshop, it is hoped you will have a fresh look at the treatment of addiction and be able to apply some of it to the clients you are working with. -Understanding Addiction as a dynamic that is fluid, not by what is being used -Identify the spectrum of addiction as it applies to the treatment -Identify the three key family dynamics and their impact on the treatment in addiction. -Identify the spectrum of Relapse Alan Rice graduated from Kean College of NJ in 1977 with a BSW, went to work for the NYC DOE as a Drug Counselor. In 1980, he went to work at Beth Israel Medical Center on a male drug detox unit. Alan entered the first PEP program in the country at WSSW to obtain his MSW and did in June 1983. In July of 1983, he moved to the Medical/Surgical Division at Beth Israel Medical Center.

Course Completion Requirements
· Sign into the workshop on time. We will start promptly and there will be a cutoff for entry.
· You are required to stay logged in and actively participate throughout the entire presentation.
· Your attendance will be verified by the logon information provided by ZOOM.
· Once the course is completed and your attendance is verified, you will receive a link to the course survey.
· After completion of the survey, you will have the opportunity to print or download a PDF copy of your certificate.
